you slept through the last small town

Jamster has an ad on MTV encouraging people to download the Crazy Frog song, saying "the #1 chart hit from Europe is finally available in the US!"

Like that's something to brag about?

Curse you, Crazy Frog.

I joined Panama City Freecycle the other day, mainly to get rid of an old monitor of Sean's. Someone posted a NEEDED ad yesterday though that got my attention. A friend of hers had to rescue his teenage daughters from an abusive situation out of state, and they literally had to leave with just the clothes on their backs. So she was asking for clothes to help them out.

One of the girls wears the same sizes as I do, so I am scooping up all the clothes and shoes that I haven't got rid of but don't wear much. So far I have like 5 pairs of jeans/cords, three pairs of shoes, a handful of camis and tank tops, and a dress. Then I thought I could do something for both of them by clearing out my make-up drawers. So I'm giving them a bunch of nail polishes, some eyeshadows (Vincent Longo & Hard Candy), a blush, and some sample YSL foundations.

I'm going to look for more though, I have until tuesday when this woman will come pick up whatever I have. I'll maybe throw in some books they might enjoy too.

I was just thinking how hard it must be for them right now, having come through that, and having left all their things behind. So I wanted to help. It's easier for me to get rid of stuff I honestly don't need when I have a specific person or people in my heart that I want to help out.

We got up at 0645 and got on with the business of getting Sean out the door. When we were about to leave he gave me the sweetest card that made me cry. More notable because he almost never does cards, even for holidays, he forgets until I give him one and he's all "Crap I forgot again!" So a random card was super touching.

Once we were ready we had a bit of a snuggle, then headed out to Spudnuts. I guess if you get there before 0800 on sunday, you can actually have your choice of donuts! Usually it's nine or so when I arrive, and I'm lucky if there's anything but plain cake left.

So we got a glazed for me, a chocolate for Sean, and a cherry fritter and an apple fritter. Remind me not to do that again! The fritters were killer, it was like three heavy greasy donuts in one. I crammed my glazed into myself after it, but I was sorry. Sean took his chocolate with him, because he just couldn't.

We were way too early to the airport, as usual. It's such a small place, they don't open the security gate until like 30 minutes before a flight, so there's no point in being early.

We sat in the small lounge area for an hour and talked, read a real estate magazine and smooched some, until it was time for Sean to go. We hugged and kissed good-bye, it has been a long time since we had to do that in an airport. I handled it well. All things considered, I think I feel pretty okay about it and secure about him being okay while he's gone. Only time will tell, but I'm finding it less hard than I'd thought to have faith in him.

I did console myself with a $200 shopping spree at WalMart though! I went to hit Sonic after we said good-bye and thought I'd run into WalMart to get a new photo insert for my wallet, since the one I have now is all broken and spilling the contents out every time I go for a credit card.

But I ended up finding these adorable satin camis with contrasty lace trim, and then I decided to get some pretty woven placemats, they look like French cafe signs, I got two with a coffee mug and text, and two with a Provençal style farm image. Then I saw there were matching tie on chair cushions, so I got two each of those too!

I got some frames, one to replace a picture the glass broke in recently, and one multi-photo frame to fill in a hole on the photo wall.

Then I stumbled into the candle area. Oh my gosh, the candles! Right now they have SO MANY great candles at for around $5. I got three 12 oz candles in mason jars for $4.96 in scents that made my mouth water like Strawberry Sorbet & Double Berry Blizzard and an Oatmeal Raisin Cookie so true that is literally made my tummy grumble!

I also found $5 twenty ounce jar candles in Pink Grapefruit that smells exactly like Yankee Candle Jellybean. Seriously, $5! For the same size that you pay Yankee Candle $20 for. I bought two and as I am burning one now and realizing it does smell just like YC Jellybean, I am seriously considering going back for more. $5!!!!!!!

I was there for well over an hour.

When I left, I went to Sonic for sodafication, did NOT get another sour slushie (I did last night) and then popped into the pet store next door to refresh my memory of what they carry. I came out with a pretty blue leather collar for Lola with sparkly rhinestones. Her pink collar was looking kind of ratty, she needed a new one. I also got a catbip mousie for Chico and some plastic spring things for Lola which she won't play with. Lola, who thinks a hair tie is the best toy ever, who will play with anything, will not even take a single swipe at them. So back they go.

I unpacked all my goodies when I got home, and with impeccable timing Sean called about five minutes after I came in the door. He was killing time in Atlanta and was considering taking a $400 voucher to go on a later flight. I pointed out that he might miss his Phoenix -> Yuma connection and be stuck there overnight. He was glad I was sensible. I checked to be sure, because $400 in air tickets would be nice, but the flight he was on to Yuma was the last one & he'd have missed it. So he had to pass.

We've decided we have to go to Warren, Ohio the last weekend of September. Sean's aunt is having a huge retirement party, I haven't met anyone from his dad's side of the family, and his aunt and her daughters, his cousins, was really great to him a aterrible time in his life, so he feels like he really owes it to her to be there for this big shebang.

We are going to have one crazy month.

I managed to procrastinate going to the gym until 1530. I was sure the gym closed at 1700 on sundays, but the guy came by when I'd been on the ellipse machine for 15 minutes and gave me a 5 minute warning. 1600. Oops. Oh well, I got my 20 minutes in, that's the minimum.

Came home and had a nice bath, washed my hair, and then loafed around online pretty much for the rest of the evening! Lazy bunny.

I installed the Lemmings game on Sean's computer but I can't figure it out. So I played more Simpsons Hit & Run instead.

Sean called from his rental car in Yuma to tell me he'd arrived and had to find his way out to the base. The airport code for Yuma is YUM so we have been calling it that all day.

[info]redrosebud, I will do that idiosyncrasies meme tomorrow, I'll probably need it to pad out my post and make it more than few sentences long :)

Also, [info]lucymoore, I have almost finished writing the 10 questions from the first book, I find it's taking longer than I thought because I'm having to go back and check what happened in which book so there's not a book 2 question on the book 1 test. But it's getting done!

Oops, there's my bedtime call from Sean. He got to drive from Yuma to the training ground in a sandstorm, lucky guy.

Would that he were back here. The rain stopped, it's been lovely. Lovely, but lonely.

Awww. That is so wonderful of you to help those girls out! I'd like to help someone like that out, instead of always giving my stuff to Salvation Army. I know it's helping people, but I'd like to see it help someone directly.

I have to go get that Grapefruit candle now. I love this Jellybean and it's almost gone! I didn't know what I was going to do!

I've seen those satin cami's, but I'm too fat to wear those. Very cute though!

It really sucks being lonely. Tell Lola & Chico that Auntie Pez wants them to give their Mommy lots of kisses!

Yeah, that's why it was easier for me to give up some things that I keep holding on to because I like them, instead of giving away to a charity group - knowing there's a teenage girl who just had to sneak away from home in the middle of the night that would be better served by my pretty gold cords than I am makes it easier to give them away even though I still like them. I don't NEED them. She does.

They didn't have any at the Super WalMart by my house, so I am going to have to go back up to the mall area one for more. It's weird, they really smell so much like Jellybean!

Chico is giving me lots of cuddles, Lola is sulking because she doesn't know where daddy went.

You have a 20 minute minimum on the elliptical machines at your gym. That would make me so mad, I go for 45 minutes.:(

Minimum. Not maximum.

And no, there is no minimum (or maximum, actually) 10 minutes is just the shortest amount of time you should do cardio if you expect to see any benefits.

I did the same thing on freecycle just the other day. I posted my old purse, and the lady that wanted it said she'd recently lost everything in a house fire. So I rounded up other stuff that I wasn't planning on getting rid of but honestly don't use and might be helpful to her and put that in bags too. Spare towels and pillow cases and the like. I hope she appreciated them; I never heard after she picked them up and a lot of times people will write you and say thanks again after they get something.

Yeah, it's always nice to hear from them. But you know in your heart you helped someone out, and that's good enough.

I'm sorry that he's gone for so long ... but at least with every passing moment, you are that much closer to the time when he's back. That first day is SO hard, when you have the entire time apart in front of you. :(

Will be thinking of you, I know how hard this is. In the meantime, do all the Bunnythings that make him crazy (there must be some) to entertain yourself until he gets back.

Bah, you know it's not that long. 3 weeks is nothing compared to two and three months and having periods where we didn't even know how long it would be. And really I'm fine. If I didn't have to worry about him, this would be totally easy.

Curse you, Crazy Frog.

Indeed! The Crazy Frog ad is on MTV Nordic on every time there is a commercial break. I just can't stand it anymore.

It's really irritating, they are pushing it so hard. Why couldn't the Swedes just keep the damn crazy frog to themselves?

Hey Bunny

" All things considered, I think I feel pretty okay about it and secure about him being okay while he's gone. Only time will tell, but I'm finding it less hard than I'd thought to have faith in him."

What do you mean by that Lily?

As for the crazy frog. GRR. #1 on aussie chart also. Why oh why?

Re: Hey Bunny

Nothing more than what I said. I don't really care to share beyond all that I've publically posted over the past year.

Yeah, Crazy Frog makes me almost ashamed to be Swedish

No problem, it's a fun challenge for me to figure out how to walk the line between obvious and easy vs obscure and too hard.

You have such a big heart! It is great that you are not only gathering up clothing and shoes but to think of books and make-up. I really need to clean out my closet and give away clothes.

I hope that the next three weeks go by very quickly for you and Sean. I'm the opposite, I want the next three weeks to go by slowly.

[info]princessbunny

August 8 2005, 19:28:56 UTC 6 years ago

I just felt bad because one of the girls is my size but one is a good deal bigger, so one of the girls was getting a huge box of clothes and I wanted to think of something they could share. And I've always got way more make-up than anyone person could use, so it seemed logical. I threw in some razors and shower gel and stuff too, I figure if they left with nothing, they can use all that and more!

I hope you have a lovely wonderful holiday. I want to see tons of pictures from Mexico!

You're one of the most thoughtful people I know. Seriously.

We love those Wal-Mart candles. I'm not sure of the brand, but it's the same company that makes the cookie kind. We love their apple cinnamon cake candle. That's always been our favorite.

Thank you! I try, I wish I could do more.

The candles in the mason jars? I can't burn the oatmeal cookie one until I'm off this diet or it'll drive me insane with cookie-lust :)

How kind of you to help those girls out!

Sorry to hear that Sean's gone for three weeks. I feel silly for getting upset when my guy went away for a three-day weekend with the guys. Military SOs have my respect and admiration for so many reasons, not least of which is being able to let their loves go, whether to another state or another country, for varying amounts of time, under various conditions. At any rate, here's hoping that the time passes quickly for the sake of both of you.

And an off topic question? May I please have your address? I neglected to save it from the package you sent (silly me). Thank you!

Thank you. II'm hoping he'll be too busy to get bored, lonely and depressed as he is wont to do. It's a hard class, so I'm optimistic that he will be.

I can't complain really, compared to our first year married (101 days together) and the second (112 days) this past year (354 days!) has been great.

Hopefully he'll get this new gig when his time is up in 2007 and we'll never have to worry about it again.

Will email you my address now!

OT- cruise info-

My husband and I are kicking around the idea of taking a cruise. Do you have any helpful hints? Any preferred cruise lines or times of the year to go?

Thank you!

p.s. - I hope Sean arrives home safe and sound. Good luck on the house hunting.

[info]princessbunny

August 8 2005, 19:43:02 UTC 6 years ago

Re: OT- cruise info-

Well, we have only been on one cruise and we weren't real enthusiastic about it, it was a Carnival. There just wasn't that much to do on the boat if you don't want to drink or play in their silly games.

If we ever go again, we'll spend the extra money to go on a more upscale line like Silverseas or Crystal Cruises, or at least NCL.

Jamster has an ad on MTV encouraging people to download the Crazy Frog song, saying "the #1 chart hit from Europe is finally available in the US!"
The sad thing is, two of my friends work there (they claim they're innocent seeing as they do backend/Java stuff rather than create heinous ringtones, but still) and Jamster, or Jamba as it's known here, is more or less the only tech company hiring people at the moment, so as much as I'd like to wish they'd go away and stop annoying me with their dancing frogs/cockroaches/chickies, I can't, really.

Huge kudos to you for being so thoughtful. Those poor girls will be so thrilled to get your presents.

I was just so upset to see that damned frog on my television. It was bad enough when the purple hippo made it to our shores last year. But yeah, I can't fault anyone for wokring there, when you need a job you need a job. Look at me, I worked in pornmongery for 4 years as much as I disagree with everything about it. You gotta eat.

I'm dropping them off tomorrow with th elady who will give them to the girls, I'm happy I can do something for them. I can't imagine what a bad situation it must have beem for their dad to have to go smuggle them out with nothing but what they had on.

I am burning my jellybean candle right now! I will have to check the Wal Mart here for that grapefruit candle.

I'm curious what Sean thinks of Yuma. I want to go there sometime while we are on this side of the country. I was born there so it would be nice to see where I was born. I would also like to visit my grandfathers grave. He died on my birthday the year before I was born. I know my dad would really appreciate me taking a picture of his gravesite. My dad was unable to be at his fathers funeral because he was in Vietnam. =/

Hahah I can tell you right now what he thinks of it. He hates it! He was there for HALO school back when he went through the Special Ops pipeline. It hasn't improved, it's a crummy little base in the middle of nowhere. He says the town isn't much, but it's at least gotten a few more stores since he was there before.
