i woke up to feet that i took to be your shoes
Sean and I had a heated discussion about One Day at a Time this morning. He was sure Kristy McNichol was Julie, but I told him he was on crack, everybody knows Mackenzie Phillips played Julie.

I loved that show so much when I was little, I think because unlike most sitcoms, it was about a single mom with daughters so I felt like I could relate more to it than something like Eight is Enough.

Anyhow, we discovered you can actually see One Day at a Time on demand on Comcast! Also classic Fantasy Island episodes! Score.

Oddly enough, given my recent Mama & the Papas kick and the One Day at a Time discussion, the Fantasy Island episode we picked at random featured Michelle Phillips.

You know, I am all about keeping my child healthy and safe. Lord knows I watch his diet like a hawk, put bug spray and sunscreen on him, do all I can to make sure he's happy and comfortable.

But I think making your child wear a full wetsuit and a hat that has curtains 3/4 of the way around it

into the pool is just mean. "It's like SPF 500!" says his mom, "so I don't have to worry!" He's not photosensitive or anything, just a normal toddler. I don't want Cash to get sunburnt either, but that just strikes me as excessive.

Cash didn't sleep too bad last night but woke up at 0530 and was just ready to take on the day. *yawn* I actually just laid on his futon and dozed on and off between rounds of trying to get him back to sleep while he tore around the room babbling and playing and being a crazy nut.

I finally gave up at seven and we got up, woke up Sean, and went out for caffeine. I did not have pumpkin bread with my coffee, since a requirement of my [info]bunnyfit challenge is that I only get one sweet treat per day and I knew if I had pumpkin bread in the morning, I'd be miserable after dinner because I'd want dessert. So I was strong.

When we got home Mr B was all manic and crazy from being up since so early. Sean wanted to mow the lawn and do yardwork, so I decided to take cash over to Michelle's and stay out of Sean's way. The boys played in Andrew's baby pool and Cash chased Dixie dog all over the property. They had a great time, Cash's farmer tan is starting to even out, and he enjoyed playing with Andrew's cool toys.

Andrew had a hair appointment at noon, so we said good-bye and came home at 1130. Sean was just finishing up in the yard, so Cash ran around with him for a bit and "helped". He was really getting into crazy exhausted meltdown mode by noon though, so I put him to bed. Lola stayed in there with him to keep an eye on hip while he napped. Funny kitty, she sure does love him.

Sean and I watched some Band of Brothers on History HD, I took a shower, we bet more fake money on CentSports.com.

After all the coffee wore off, I crashed and started to fall asleep. Of course Mr B woke up from his nap a few minutes later. I thought I'd lay down with him and try to get some more sleep for both of us, and that worked. He stayed asleep when I woke up to pee, so I left him snoozing. Sean had had a McCraving, and brought me home a happy meal.

Michelle called to ask me something about tomorrow and the phone woke Cash. So I fed him his lunch, we went walking, then to WalMart for groceries. Big doings.

I bought mostly fruits and veggies, Sean and I have planned a weekly menu for the month that is heavy on salads and fresh fruit for snacks. I tried to give Mr B some pieces of cherry to try, but he wasn't interested. He actually wasn't interested in any food tonight, I gave him some fresh pineapple which he turned down and then he refused his tofu, turkey sausage, and even pears with oatmeal. Odd.

We finished watching After Innocence which was a very interesting and informative documentary. Gave me a lot to think about. Then we started on The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford which is really good so far (and beautiful on bluray). It's two hours and forty minutes long though, so it may take us a few days to get through it!

Mr Baby has been acting tired and rubbing his eyes a lot for three days now. Not sure what's up with that.

I sure do love that little guy. My sweet baby boy in his dino jim-jams

Mild allergies? I was at the ENT Friday and he said this season has been hell, worse than he's seen in years. I'm up here in TN, and I'm sure with the head start to the growing season that down in FL things are worse right now. My eyes have been itchy for a couple weeks now and I'm so friggin tired. I have seasonal hay fever, poorly controlled with Claratin (it's cheap, whereas my perscription Singular is not, so I deal with the less effective option). Soon whatever it is will quit blooming and I'll be good till the next round of allergens blooms. Fun times, hah.

I was wondering that, Michelle said Andrew's eyes were real red and watery yesterday. Cash's haven't been red or watery at all, but he has been rubbing them a lot and also been outside a lot. So I suppose it's possible.

After Innocence is such a beautiful documentary, I came very close to tears through it.

It is. It's very sad, but so empathetic and well made. I got sniffly when the guy was with his fiancée getting the ultrasound...I can't imagine missing that particular chunk of your life, from 20-40 and trying to not even start over just START at that age.

We had an exoneree talk to us in class a couple of months ago. He seemed to be one of the stronger men to get out after decades of wrongful imprisonment. When he was telling us about some of the other exonerees (they meet at annual gatherings) he wept inconsolably in pain for some of the men who had turned to drugs and alcohol just to numb the emotions after being found innocent. He was so so upset about no one coming to help these men (not their families, not the State, no help organizations), he cried and cursed at the awful situation with the most foul words I had heard in my life. Just broke my heart!

I bet. I had no idea they weren't compensated and that their records weren't expunged, that's ludicrous & so unfair! That a parolee who committed his crime is better off than an innocent exoneree.

I want to see The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford but it is just insanely long. We use the 'regular' video store, I don't want to pay for two day's rent. We have time to watch movies from 9 pm to 11 pm, so 2 hours is really the maximum time. I think I need to get a babysitter just so I can see this movie! :)

E's babymama insisted on the full-wet suit/Lawrence of Arabia hat for a while. Poor kid looked like a weenie and it had him so freaked that we couldn't take him outside with out him flipping and crying how the sun burned and he had to stay in.

That's just sad. I understand the dangers of too much sun exposure and all, but it's the sun, it's not nuclear fallout!

My kids would never wear that hat. Nolan would throw it. We would both be in tears by the time all was said and done.

I wish there were a magic pill for weight loss. I try to be good all week, and only slip up on the weekends. So hard!:(
