When we were in Galveston, Sean bought his dad's birthday dinner. Notable because it was a dinner for some 20+ people. I was as surprised as everyone else at the table, later in the car he told me it had been an impulse because he was so pleased to see his family all together and wanted to do something nice for them.

Anyhow, one of his uncles sent us a thank you card for that today along with a gift card to Outback! Nice!

There's a State Farm ad featuring a couple in a hospital room with their newborn baby, and it makes me cry every time I see it. Just the sight of a wee baby in one of those pink & blue striped blankies gives me the weepies. Those first 2 days in the hospital with Cash were so magical to me, anything that takes me back there makes me all emotional.

The night went okay, Cash's congestion doesn't seem to be bothering him so much as his teeth. And I do think he may be having growing pains, he just cries and frog kicks his legs really hard, I don't know what else it could be.

Still, he didn't sleep too poorly. I can't figure out why he keeps staying up for an hour or two after his 3-4 am wake up. It doesn't help that I'm too tired to figure out what is going on, I'll be half asleep thinking he is asleep too and then the next thing I know, I wake up to him crawling on me or trying to put his sippy cup in my mouth.

The other day, he woke me up in the morning by beaning me in the head with a picture frame! I have pictures of Sean & him and of me & him in these cute Daddy & Me/Mommy & Me frames my petsitter gave me when he was born. i hung them over the head of his bed, and he loves to stand up there and talk to the pictures. Sometimes he pulls them off the wall to admire them more closely, and on this particular day he wanted me to admire the picture of him and daddy so much that he dropped it on my sleeping face.

Did our morning then, stopped at McDonald's for some iced coffee to take to Michelle's, then headed over. As usual, it took ages to get him into the house because he had to love all over Dixie dog (and vice versa) and play with Andre's soccer ball, trampoline, toy spade, shoes, etc....

Once the boys were happily playing, I gave Cash a big hug and a kiss and told him I would be back soon. He ignored me because he was too excited about the shiny coins in Andrew's cash register.

I went and got my nails done a happy bright metallic lemon-lime colour. I figured while it's still hot and I still have a tan, why not?

I normally like to sit and read while I get my toes done and don't chit chat with the techs or my fellow patrons. A lady came in just after me with her little girl. Pretty thing, long blonde hair, all excited about getting a pedicure with mommy. So I was watching her and smiling, then the mom started to chat with me. In about 3 minutes I was enjoying her company so much I actually put my book away and spent the rest of my pedicure yammering away.

We have a ton in common, her daughter's name is Lillie and her son was almost named Cash, but her husband got a bee in his bonnet at the last minute and decided to make him a "the IV" instead. Her son is 8 months old and just such a sweet little guy, hung out happily in his infant seat the whole time, gurgling and cooing, being sweet and smiley, never once fussing about having to sit and be left alone for so long.

Her husband is military, they just got here from 4 years in Turkey, but she is originally from Biloxi, and her parents still live there. So we spent a long time talking about the city and our family there.

I gave her my contact information and got her number, I might invite her to lunch next week. Much like when I met Claudia, then with Michelle, I just felt an instant rapport with her. And that doesn't happen to me every day!

Once I was done, I headed back to Michelle's, hoping to find Cash in an okay state. He was in tears though, she said he'd been pretty upset the whole time I was gone. He climbed into my lap as soon as I got in the door and cried for another few minutes and then toddled off my lap and went off to play like nothing ever happened. Aside from the occasional *sniffle*hitch* he was fine.

Michelle said Andrew, who normally has a hard time sharing his toys or his mommy was a SUPER helper, he kept bringing Cash toys to try to cheer him up, didn't fuss a bit that Michelle was carrying Cash everywhere, and even hugged him a few times, while fake crying, trying to show some empathy. Such a sweet little friend he is to Cash!

Bless her heart, Michelle was not at all put out by the 80 minutes of crying baby & said she's more than happy to do it again next week! She's sure he's going to do better and better each time & I hope she is right.

We hung out for another hour, since the last thing I want to do is whisk him away when he's still upset. He played with Andrew and they had a grand old time tearing up the house. He seemed really tired, so I finally told him to tell Miss Michelle and Andrew thank you & bye bye, then we went out and saw Dixie. Who Cash didn't want to say bye bye to! It took me ages to get him in the car & when I did he screamed like a banshee. I said he should have enjoyed his time there while he had it, mamma or no mamma.

He took a good 2.5 hour nap, he was worn out. Sean came home early, also worn out & still not feeling well. Cash gave him some love before we went out walking. Phew, it was hot hot hot today. But actually a nice cool breeze kicked up about halfway through, it felt great.

We played in the yard after we got home, then went to Sonic. I've been eschewing diet coke for unsweet peach tea lately, I don't know why. Just got a craving the other day, got one & liked it so much I keep getting them.

Had dinner, watched more Burn Notice. Cash was a little grumply through the evening, his teeth are just giving him so much grief. He's getting really good at falling asleep on his own though, I'm so proud of him.

Dixie Dog!

I wonder what she wants

Hmmmm.....

Diggy has stinky breath

Andrew is a fireman

So is Cash!

Cash mows their lawn in appreciation for sitter services

And doesn't want to go home

You mentioned Biloxi in your post and I figure you've been there at least one more time than me. (I've never been.)

Do you think it would be a good place for a bachelorette party? I haven't been to Vegas yet so I wouldn't know what I was missing. I have to stay quasi-local so all the girls can go and so it doesn't get super expensive for them. My ideas as of now are here in Pensacola (I'd rather not), Destin/Fort Walton area, Panama City and Biloxi. Biloxi seemed like my best bet since it will be on a Thursday.

Thoughts?

You could say that :) I spent almost a month there in 2005, we own land there, were planning to build and move there until we bought this house (now it's for sale) and we've been I think 7 or 8 times since Katrina.

So yeah, I do think it would be an excellent place for a bachelorette party. What kinds of things would you want to do? The Hard Rock or the Beau Rivage or the Island View are first rate.

Aww, hooray for new friends! That's great. I hope you two get to hang out more!

I hope Sean gets better soon! Those lingering colds are just awful.

Sean's uncle's gift is so overwhelming! I would love to be in a position to do that on impulse -- I can totally see why Sean did it -- and it is amazing that his uncle wants to send you guys a gift card in return.

Poor Cash. I'm sure he will get better and better at staying with Michelle -- so many fun things there! Doggies and toys, and Andrew just sounds like the sweetest little friend.

Mmm, unsweet peach tea sounds so good!

I was excited, it's so rare for me to meet someone I REALLY like right off the bat, so it's always a thrill when it happens. She has my number and email, but I just have her number. If I had her email, I'd send one just to say how much I enjoyed meeting her, but I feel like calling is invasive, especially as her husband is getting in from Turkey in the morning, so I'm sure she'll be busy. If I don't hear from her by next week, I'll be all brave and call to invite her to lunch.

It was so nice of his uncle to do that & totally unexpected.

I just love that Andrew was hugging a crying Cash and fake crying along with him, that is too cute. I have seen Andrew get all possessive of Michelle whenever she pays attention to another child, so it just melts my heart (and hers!) that he doesn't fuss a bit about Michelle holding Cash for an hour. He's a good little friend!

It's good stuff, peach tea. I put a little sweet & low in & MMMM!

The peach tea at Sonic is my favorite thing there! I got to have some this weekend while in Reno and it was sooooo good. I miss my Sonic there. We went about 5-6 times over our visit.

Heee! You said 'Vandy' in your post (ok in the bottom part)... meaning Vanderbilt, I would assume, because that's the only Vandy I know.

It's where I went to college.

So awesome to make a new friend when you least expect it! It's so difficult to find friends... especially *good* (non-catty) women friends.

Also, I love McDonald's iced coffee. YUM. And cheap. Great combo...

Yep. Quite a few of my high school classmates went to Vanderbilt. They just beat the snot out of the 24th ranked Gamecocks (they'll be unranked next week!) in a big lovely upset!

Yeah the caramel iced coffee...I think they should just write MCCRACK on the menu.

Wouldn't that be odd if I knew some of your high school classmates? It depends on what year(s) they attended of course, but Vandy was small enough back then that it's possible. I started fall of '93. (By the way-- I just looked at your user info to see if the year is visible on your birthday, and realized that you have my grandmother's birthday... 9/13 is a very special day for me)

I miss Nashville. I always loved living there, and if I'd had a car then, I would've gone to the lake probably every weekend. Tennessee has a lot to offer in the way of lakes and parks and of course, beautiful scenery.

I haven't actually tried any of the flavors! I just get the regular iced coffee, which is so crack-like that I can't seem to try anything else.

Ah, you started the year anyone I knew would have graduated. I am old.

Sean likes Nashville better than I do, I preferred Knoxville, probably just because I spent more time there. I also like Chattanooga.

I've been so busy and hate that I haven't been commenting/posting. I'm so glad you liked the post cards. Does Cash have one from Colorado?

What do you do for Cash when he is congested? It's killing me that I can't really do anything for all that phlegm that I hear in Logan's throat. I've used the bulb syringe on his nose too many times to count, night air, humidity, and elevated his bed. He just seems so uncomfortable. We took him to The Children's Hospital ER Monday because he had croup, but that went away with an oral steriod. If we could just get rid of the congestion he would be a happy camper!

It's okay, I wanted to comment on your post about the straws, but just never found the time to sit down and do it with the thoughtfulness I felt it deserved! And we'd love a CO postcard!

Northern Essence's baby vapor rub is the only one it's safe to actually put on their little faces.
http://www.northernessence.com/catalog.php?category=5 (second item on the page)

I use that under his nose and also put it on my chest when he nurses & it helps clear him up! It takes an act of congress for him to let me aspirate his nose, he wakes up and cries all night if I use one of those plug in vapor things & the humidifer never seemed to do much.

Hard to tell right now. But I get Miami Monday and Tuesday, so I'll be on WIOD talking about the storm.

Right now their fp3 (just a forecast discussion the forecasters put out) is saying that they're expecting increasing moisture (yes) and a better chance of rain over the next couple of days (yes). Rip currents are going to be a problem. They're talking about issuing a wind advisory by tomorrow.

Ultimately, this will not be a landfalling CAT 3 hurricane most likely (or CAT 4 ... they're calling for strengthening). Tropical storm force winds = yes, but it will be far enough south of MIA where it won't be a gigantic huge crazy deal it doesn't look like.

I'll know more tomorrow (which sucks, but is true ... I hate how unpredictable these storms are).
