when you wake up int he morning you can hear the music all around you
Yesterday on Marketplace, they were broadcasting from outside Lehmann Bros. in New York City. They mentioned that as former employees were coming out with their stuff in boxes, not only was the press chasing them down the street with cameras trying to get a comment, but tourists were actually snapping photos.
I know how horrible I felt the two times I was laid off from a company I really loved, believed in, and had put my whole heart into. I can't imagine how much harder that day would have been if some schmoe from Nebraska was standing there with his disposable camera going "Look Edna! A real unemployed person! Not so fancypants now are ya, big Wall Street guy in your three piece suit?"
I was listening to the Sterns' Road Food segment on The Splendid Table today & thinking how much I would love to get their book and just drive around trying all the specialty foods at the amazing sounding restaurants they review each week. And how difficult it would be to plan a trip like that. As that thought i passing through my head Jan says "We actually visited this one while on our Road Food tour, where we take two bus loads of people around visiting our top restaurant picks in a given region"
I have got to get in on that someday.
Good: Cash slept all night
Bad: He thinks 0500 is a great time to wake up.
It's okay though, I am not going to complain. He is sleeping for over 8 hours a night, all in a row. I know firsthand that things could be a lot worse!
We got up, said bye bye to daddy and watched Sunny Side Up.
I am trying to do one major cleaning activity each morning during teevee time, in order to keep on top of the place between visits from Maria. Today's activity was damp-mopping all the floors. It worked out pretty well, Cash tried to help a little, but was mostly too busy watching his beloved Chica.
We went to Book Babies at the library, it was well attended today! Amy and Trey were there again, Cash was happy to see his little pal. It's so funny watching all these kids grow up. Molly & Pherson were there, I remember when Pherson was just a floppy little 6 month old and now he's a big boy walking around the library.
Mr B was antsy, as usual, after the initial singing, he ran around the room investigating everything. Once he'd done the usual inventory, he wanted to go back outside and play with the legos. I managed to restrain him & keep him amused until music time, which is really the highlight of Book Babies for him. I think just because he gets to carry that basket full of shaker eggs around the room!
As soon as it ended, he headed out to the Lego table, of course. Then carted the big purple stuffed lamb up and down the aisles for a while. I don't know why he associates the stuffed lamb with Arthur on the wall, but he always drags the toy over to the wall hanging of Arthur and his sister & points at it while waving the stuffed lamb around. I'm stumped.
We chatted with Amy about saturday's planned fun on the farm & waited for Michelle and Andrew to get done with their story time. Then the boys ran around playing while we visited.
At one point, Cash picked up Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth and sat down in one of the rocking chairs all serious, like he was going to relax and read some fine literature. He paged through it, looking intent, but then decided there weren't enough pictures and threw it aside.
He was pretty tired by then, so we packed it in, said bye to Andrew and Miss Michelle and headed home. He was asleep when we got her, a half chewed piece of licorice still sitting on his tongue. I wasn't sure what to do about that, but when I picked him up to carry him in, he chewed and swallowed in his sleep.
He was out for just one and a half hours, I did laundry and watched I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry again while answering email & ChaChaing.
Cash was so hungry when he awoke that he ate all his watermelon and sweet potatoes and still wanted more, so I gave him last night's leftover angel hair. He sure does love his noodles.
Went walking then I filled up the baby pool and let him skinny dip for a while. I was giving him a nekkid wagon ride around the yard when Sean came home and took over wagon pulling duties.
I made Sean pork chops in the CrockPot for dinner, and some broccoli cheese rice. Cash wasn't sure about the pork chops but he liked the rice!
We watched last week's episode of The Shield and then some Office reruns. The 25th is a big day in teevee-land, what with The Office & Survivor starting back up.
Cash is so funny, when he is ready to go to bed now, he grabs my hand and leads me towards his bathroom. If I ask him where we're going, he sticks his finger in his mouth and makes tooth brushing motions with it.
He had a fun bath, but was so tired that he got out voluntarily. He pulled the plug then stood up and held out his arms for Sean to lift him.
He went out quicker than he has in days, he is pooped! I hope he sleeps well.
Tuesday nights are busy on the DVR, I had to actually employ both of them to catch everything. Wipeout (which at least will be over after this week), Fringe, The Biggest Loser, 90210 and The Shield. We saved everything to watch later except TBL which we're watching now.
