fallen out with my love, a grievous time to pass
I love American Express. Truly. Their customer service is amazing. I have had an AmEx card since 1995 and every single time I have called them for anything at all, I have come away feeling like a valued customer. WHich is why I have had one for so long and will continue to do so!
In my quest to be a better housewife & keep the place clean, I threw out a CVS bag that had all the remnants of the wrapping bits Sean used for my birthday gifts. Found out last night it also had the receipts for my gift cards. Oops.
So I called AmEx, since that's how he paid for them & asked if there was anything we could do to prove we'd purchased a specific gift card that hadn't been activated properly. She said she could request an itemized receipt from CVS for the transaction, something we as customers could not do & she'd mail it to me, so I could go in and get the gift card activated. She apologized that it could take 6 weeks, but said it should solve the problem, and wished me a happy belated birthday.
When I had the old school green card that had to be paid off every month & couldn't pay it off one month, they worked out a plan with me and didn't gouge me on fees. When Sean was at the airport headed from England to Florida and discovered he had no credit card, and would need one when he arrived, they issued one on my account in his name and FedExed it to the hotel to be there when he arrived, at no charge to me.
When I thanked the girl last night for providing such stellar service, she said "Well, you deserve that sort of service ma'am!"
Love them.
Last night was so bad that the first thing I did when I got to the computer this morning was order that 42" baby gate off Amazon. Cash woke p three times, I think the second time was Lola's fault as she was running down the hall as I was headed up it, and the third time, at four am, I know was her fault because she had a seizure and peed on Cash's bed.
It scared him, obviously, so I was trying comfort him and was damned if I was going to leave him to walk around and wake up while I stripped the bed, so I just piled up towels over the spot and tried to block Cash from rolling over there. Still, it took until 0530 to get him back to sleep.
I went back to bed then, slept right through Sean getting ready & woke up when I heard Mr B at 0715.
We did our morning thing, we had to go out to get money to pay Maria since she was coming a day early and we weren't prepared. I also had to get my replacement pumpkin spice mocha, yesterday they made me one that was disgusting, it was barely flavored then halfway down I suddenly had a cup full of foam and syrup. Yeuch! I called them & they said I could come get a proper one today, so I did.
I was hoping for another "oops, sorry we screwed up" free drink coupon, but didn't get one.
Came home and rushed around getting ready. I had to make Cash's bed up once the laundry was done, so it would be ready for him if he fell asleep on the way home.
We ended up being too late for Book Babies, but arrived at the same time as Anna & Jimmy so we played with them in the main library until Book Babies got out. Amy told me then that the new session was starting in 2 weeks, so Trey and Cash would be graduating to the 1030 Terrific Tots class. Which is great because that means we'll be in with Andrew now!
So we registered for that & talked about how funny it is to us that our children are too old for something already!
I decided to just stay for the Terrific Tots session this time since we'd missed out on Book Babies. Michelle had told me if she and Andrew weren't there that meant she was feeling too crummy from yesterday's dental work, so I guess that's where she was! Cash did his best to make up for the lack of Andrew's chaotic presence by trying to take the book away from the teacher (it was about penguins) and finding where the instruments were hidden and crashing the cymbals together repeatedly.
He liked the "Shake Your Sillies Out" song & dance but was definitely ready to go at the end.
I wasn't sure when he'd nap, since he'd woke up at 0715 but been up for an hour and a half before that. I subtracted that time from the wake up time and came up with an estimate of 1145.
Sure enough, he was fussing and crying in the backseat at Sonic, and then the noise stopped. I looked over my shoulder to see his little eyes drooping shut. The clock said 1144. Amazing.
He woke up when I carried him in, he was really crying, like he didn't feel well. I wasn't sure why, aside from his teeth which seemed to be causing more drool than normal today. It wasn't like his usual whining because something hurts or he's tired, it was really sad crying. It broke my heart! I laid down and cuddled him and eventually he drifted off to napville.
Watched Mississppi Burning & ChaChaed while he slept. He woke up in a better mood, thank goodness! Had his lunch, went walking. The weather today was so nice, just perfect, sunny and high 70s with a cool breeze.
We had to make a watermelon run after our walk. I was in line at the self checkout next to a couple with a brand new baby boy. Grandma was with them, obviously treating them to a ton of groceries and diapers, etc... The husband expressed amazement that they'd spent $20 on a place for the baby to poop and the grandma said "You could always use cloth!" so then I piped up with "He's been wearing cloth since he was born, it's awesome!" and ended up proselytizing for a bit. THey were interested & even wrote down websites.
When we got home, I set to making spaghetti with meatballs & marinara for Sean, and with garlic butter for me and Mr B. Sean was late getting back, so I left his dinner warming in the oven while Cash & I ate. When Sean got home, he shared some meatballs with Cash, who was mildly interested, but underwhelmed.
We finished watching 21 and both enjoyed it a great deal until the last half hour or so when it got too Hollywood. Pretty much any halfway decent film about Vegas/gambling, we're going to like, if only for the fun of picking out everywhere we've been, identifying which casino they're in at any moment, or noticing fakery, like the background scenes when they are in the rooms at the Hard Rock are totally wrong, there';s no way a room at the HRH could have the views they show from them.
Mr B was in a wild mood through the evening, his teeth were obviously driving him to distraction, and even though he'd had a good nap, he was kind of in Jean mode of manic tired. Sean gave him an extra long tickle & jump session before his bath & we thought he'd be all wore out.
No such luck. He was on track for an eighty-thirty bedtime, but then he had some very important gas to pass around 2045, then he had a poop, then he just wouldn't lay still, he was rolling all over the bed, squirming, kicking his legs, climbing all over me, etc... no matter what I did, he just would not settle.
Finally, an hour and a half after Sean had tucked him in, he fell asleep. I got up & went to put the laundry in the dryer. As I was finishing, I heard wailing from down the hall, had to go back in and hold him for a second again before he went down for good.
Lord have mercy, he better sleep tonight after all that!
Reading with daddy

And drawing too!
