can you take the tempest baby
The other day at Goodwill, a very elderly gentleman came in the door just as Cash ran across his path. I was chasing after Mr B, and got him turned around just as the man knelt down and said "Hi there little fella!" Mr B just looked at him curiously. The man asked me how old he was, so I told him and then he stood & said, quite sternly, "You love that little boy! You give him hugs and kisses every day, you hear me? There's nothing more special in the world than a little boy, you treat him good every single day of his life."

I assured him that I did and I surely would. It made me wonder what was in his past that made him so vehement about that. But I certainly appreciated the reminder & am glad to know he probably goes around telling lots of mommies and daddies the same thing. It's always good to remember.

I went to bed around eleven last night & woke up at 0430 in Cash's bed. Have no recollection of him waking me or going in to his room, but clearly that is what happened.

I went to my bed and then Sean's alarm woke us both at 0640. At 0641 Cash woke up. I don't know if he somehow can hear something from the opposite end of the house, or if maybe Lola was in there and heard us and woke up. This is not the first time though that us waking up has preceded Cash waking up by just a matter of minutes.

I gained a half pound this week, which I am frustrated about. Nothing for it but to try harder.

from WW we went to meet Michelle & Andrew at Toys R Us. I'd planned to use my birthday gift cards for there and Red Lobster today & invited them along to play and eat with Cash & I.

Two crazy toddlers in TRU is exhausting! We were ragged by the time we got out of there an hour later. I did get some funny pictures of Andrew & Mr B riding in the hot pink toy Escalade. FiL will be pleased.

I got Cash one of the ball poppers like Jackson's and a Melissa & Doug pound & roll. I was torn between that & the M&D latch puzzle, but I will just get him that for Christmas instead.

We went to Books a Million after that so the boys could play with their Thomas train table. Speaking of, Cash got all excited pointing to the Thomas bed in TRU, saying "TA TA!" I've never seen him identify Thomas outside of teevee before, just Barney.

Anyhow, getting them out of TRU was a trial, Cash ran into the grass nearby then went back in the in doors while Andrew was being reluctantly dragged through the out. I got Mr B out again, then he broke free and ran into traffic while Andrew got shut in between the sets of automatic doors on the out side of the store. Those boys keep us on our toes!

Managed to get them out of BaM without too much trouble, just had to bribe Cash with a pink bouncy ball & Andrew with a feathered & glittery pen. But boy did Cash not want to get back in the car! As I was wrestling him in, Hubbell pulled up by total coincidence! I said hi, but there was no way Mr B was going to be taken out of the car again & he hates when I leave him in the car and walk away, so I was just kind of "Hi, bye!" to her. Plus Cash had dropped his new pink ball on the way in the car and I was frantically trying to find it. I gave up and got in the car, but Michelle is more tenacious than I and found it way across the lot! That is why I never give him balls in public usually, he just loses them immediately. We went through like 4 balls out of the Old Navy vending machine at Pier Park once, didn't make it home with any of them.

Our Red Lobster lunch went great though, we had the patio all to ourselves, so the boys could play as they wished. My signature pasta with lobster & shrimp and asparagus was absolutely stellar, much better than I expected. Michelle had some Asian garlic-ginger shrimp, Mr B & Andrew split some chicken fingers and fries. We all went home happy!

Cash fell asleep on the ride home and slept for over three hours.

Sean helped out at one of his co-worker's kid's elementary school today. He helped two nine year old girls dissect a chicken leg. It was funny how anxious he was about it, his social anxiety applies even to little kids, but it sounds like in the end he had fun with it.

We watched most of Survivor tonight after our garlic herb chicken & salad dinner, while Mr B played with his new toys. He got the hang of the pound and roll instantly, he adores it! He's awfully good with that hammer, it only took him a few tries to figure out how to aim properly.

The new baby gate came today, so Sean put that up and Mr B decided it was bedtime during the final tribal council of Survivor, so I have yet to see the second person voted out. This season seems like it might be entertaining. I hope so!

Cash had a bath with the baby wash I bought at TRU today, it's Method's "Squeaky Green" and smells heavenly.

It took me almost an hour to get him to sleep, and then took me six tries to get out of the new gate without waking him up. That's going to take some practice. But I don't think there's any way Lola can get in there, so hopefully I'll get my $90 out of it.

Now I'm exhausted and have to do at least 30 questions on ChaCha before I got to bed. *yawn*

I'll bet trying to wrangle two lil guys in a toy store can be a handful! I'm loving the way you and Michelle are friends and Andrew and Cash are buds as well. You've done a wonderful job with social networking (or whatever) it's called to make new friends for both you and Cash.

I hope the baby gate works. Poor Lola won't know what happened. I can just see her on the other side of the gate meoooowwwwing her lil head off, saying, "But I just want in to love on my lil buddy"

Hope the weekend is spectacular!

Thankfully Lola isn't very vocal (unless she smells fried food or lunch meat) so she didn't have any commentary last night & let Mr B sleep in peace :)

I would be exhausted if I had to keep up with one little boy, let alone two! I don't know how you manage it, honestly...unless you're making sleep walking trips to Starbucks or something. ;)

I love Cash's muscles t-shirt. TOO CUTE!

It's amazing how exhausting but at the same time energizing a little boy can be when he's yours!

I love the second to last picture, his little "in awe" face.

Cute boy!

Man, I hope that old man doesn't have a sad reason for saying that. Nothing breaks my heart more than a sad old man.

I know, I was wondering if maybe his father had been mean to him, or maybe he had a son that died, or never was able to have children or something. Sean and I were talking about it & I started crying! He was just so serious when he said that to me, like it was so personally important to him that I was good to my little boy.

It's so weird how random encounters with people can have such a huge effect.

Words like that can really be nice. :)

One toddler is a lot of work, but two, and I am on the floor.

Cash sure loves his yard.:)
