girl on a carousel, she spins black rain pouring down
Have I mentioned how totally totally addicted I am to Daisy of Love? It's truly shameful. Most things people consider guilty pleasures, I don't really feel guilty about, that that is one for sure. Sean is horrified by my obsession.

Cash learned a new word on saturday. Now we have this conversation

"Hey Cash, can you say baby?"
"BAY-BEE!"
"Very good! Are you a baby?"
*vehement head shaking*
"You're not? What are you?"
"BIG!!!!"

So cute.

So friday we headed out at lunchtime, Cash was good natured enough for the first part of the drive, and fell asleep between Destin and Pensacola. I read my Unique Homes magazine and made jokes about all the ludicrous amenities in some of the houses, the unrealistic prices, people marking down their homes from $20 million to $15 million and how the magazine itself is doing fine in the economy, the more people need to sell their ridiculously high end luxury homes, the better off the publication does.

A Russian billionaire bought one of Donald Trump's homes last year for a hundred million dollars and is actually tearing it down to rebuild on the property. I said to Sean "Who spends $100 mil on a home to tear it down?!" and he said "Umm...a Russian billionaire, I guess!"

Anyhow, when we got to the end Sean said he never knew a real estate magazine could be so funny and complimented me on my running commentary.

Cash woke up before we even got into Alabama, so the latter part of the trip was not so fun. I plied him with juice and string cheese and Oreos and new books to try to keep him happy, all in all he did okay but it took a lot of work.

We got to MiL's around 5:30. She was in the yard with her dog, and Mr B was very happy to see the big dog when we got out. Bruno is not 100% reliable around children though, so it was tough to keep Cash happy. He doesn't understand why anyone would have a big doggie if he can't play with it, use it as a sofa, roll ont he floor with it, etc...! But Bruno's just not used to kids and not the brightest star in the sky, so we had to stay on top of them if they were together. It was hard.

MiL made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, but before we could eat, Cash wanted to play "steal my blanket" with her. They started this game at Christmas and that's the one thing he really enjoys doing with Grammy. He climbs into bed, pulls the covers up to his nose and then waits for her to snatch them off. He laughs and laughs, then pulls them back up and waits again. This can go on for a good 15-20 minutes.

She had read in the paper about a new playground that had opened up a few blocks from her house where they had a big play area called "the splash pad" that was all water spraying toys and fountains that shoot out of the ground and all. SO after dinner, we decided to go check it out. It is a good thing I brought swimmies for Cash even though I didn't think we'd be going in the water. He was in hog heaven! When they shut off the water at 8 pm, he was devastated and we promised him he could come back after breakfast to play some more.

If that place was near our house, I can see where I'd pretty much have to take him every day. It was great fun, and FREE.

Once we got home, we watched Beverly Hills Chihuahua, which is still a film Cash wants to see pretty much daily. Totally fine by me, I am so grateful that he's decided to love a movie that I love too instead of subjecting me to repeated viewings of something I can't stand like Cars.

It took a while to get him to sleep, MiL's street has a lot of traffic and is near a railroad, so even with the white noise machine the occasional car noise would startle him or he'd hear a train whistle and get all amped up wanting to see it. We saw 2 long freight trains on our way to and from the water park and he was so excited. The boy loves him some choo choos. Not like [info]marelespo's son loves them, but he's still young.

We went to bed not long after. A car woke Cash sometime in the middle of the night, but I got him back to sleep fairly quickly. He likes his new air mattress, was perfectly happy with it, so that was a great investment. Well worth $39! Sean laid down on it the next morning to test it out and actually dozed off, it's comfy!

After a big breakfast of eggs (Cash ate seriously 4 or 5) bacon and pancakes, and another viewing of the first hour of Beverly Hills Chihuahua, we went back to the water park. Well, started to, and then we discovered we had a flat tire. Seriously, if it's not one thing it's another! Every time we spend the last of our money on some emergency, here comes another one. Thankfully our spare is a full size tire and one in good condition. But until friday, we don't have a spare, so I'm just terrified of having another flat. At least we made it home safely.

Anyhow, Sean put it on, then we went to the park and splashed the morning away. There was a family having a massive reunion there and they had a PA set up blasting old Motown hits, Cash danced to "Got to Give It Up" he apparently likes Marvin Gaye. I got a ton of pics with MiL's camera (mine got left at home in my beach bag) so I'll have those online sooner or later.

We wore that child out! Went home, got him changed into dry duds, watched some more Beverly Hills Chihuahua, fed him a weenie and some onion rings for lunch, then set off for Mobile.

That was the one leg of the trip that went as planned, Cash fell asleep before we made it to the freeway and slept the whole time. Woke up about 5 minutes from FiL's house.

And it's almost midnight, I have a huge toddler fiesta to put on in the morning, so I'm going to call it a night & pick up where I left off tomorrow!

We did have a very nice father's day though. Cash sure loves his daddy!

Just for the record, everyone in this house loved/loves BHC. Although I was confused that I was supposed to want a chihuahua after... I wanted a german shepherd like Delgado! Sooooooo bad!

Alas, no more perma doggies for me until we move; only fosters for these two monsters to work with!

You were "supposed" to want a chihuahua? Where did you get that from? If anything, I get the message that you should adopt a shelter dog!

The idea being whenever those shows come out, people want the dog. Like how people wanted St. Bernards after Beethoven, Dalmations after 101 Dalmations. Apparently chihuahuas were supposed to tug my heart strings but not at all, I was all smitten by the retired cop dog! :-D

My husband cannot STAND my obsession with shows like Girls NExt Door, Daisy of Love, I Love New York, etc etc etc. He hates all of them- the dumber and ditzier the "stars" the more he hates it. I am quite the opposite.... hehe. Oh and i LOVED season 1 of Tila Tequila's show- Dani should've won! And Rock of Love Bus? Yeah. Loved it. Loved Flavor Flave's too.

Yeah, Sean won't let me watch Girls Next Door if he's in the room,he gets all irritated and stomps out in a huff muttering about idiotic bimbos. If I was a guy, I'd take any excuse to watch that show! I can't stomach a lot of them, but something about how pathetic Daisy is and how moronic the guys are just makes for good teevee.

My cousin had a splash pad installed in her back yard in Arizona. She said it was pricey but the best investment she has ever made in her life. I want one once we settle and buy a house. Only in my case it will be for my grandchildren as opposed to my children. LOL

Good gracious, in the yard? I can't imagine how costly that would be if it's like the one we were at! But I'm sure every kid in the neighborhood was their friend after that!

instead of subjecting me to repeated viewings of something I can't stand like Cars

Anssi loooooves Cars. I don't, anymore. It was fun for the first 20 times but now I rather watch Wall-E (there is no talking), Spongebob or Moomins.

That sounds like a good trip - shame about the flat tyre but otherwise all went well, that play place would be Jack's heaven as well!

Buster is very good with Jake, jack and Tedd but can be a bit warey of other kids, just cos he doesn't like their movements now his eye sight has gotten so bad. But as he is so different all kids are fascinated by him so I feel bad when I have to tell them not to stroke him.

Enjoy your fiesta party! xx

It really was splendid, I wish we had one here, Cash would be so happy to be able to go there all the time. Course if you all had one there it'd only be open one month a year, too cold the rest of the time :P

Yeah, it is hard for Cash to understand that all dogs don't just love him and want to be his BFF, but I have at least trained him to wait and not just rush up to strange dogs and start petting them, he's very careful and waits for me to say it's okay. Not to say he doesn't fuss if I have to say it's not!

I can't believe you hate Cars! Haha! When I first got it for JJ, I'd catch bits and pieces of it and didn't think much of it, but when I finally caught the end... you know, the race and him stopping and pushing King over the finish line, I actually teared up!

We have Beverly Hills Chihuahua too, and although JJ laughed and laughed through it the first time, he hasn't wanted to watch it since!

Sean & I saw Cars in the theater (before we had Cash ) and we both just hated it. I'm hoping to keep him from seeing it as long as possible :)

That sounds like a great time, especially the water !!!!!. My friend has a son who, when he was about 3 or so, just HAD to watch Babe..EVERY DAY. I visited there for a few days and left with my head about to blow up. It was adorable, don't get me wrong, but too much of even a cute thing can get you !

they have a few of those water parks in Denver. I used to love going to them all day it wore the kiddos out for a great nap and you got a tan in the process. I miss summers..hopefully I can remember what they are like after the 3 years of living here are up :0

Trust me, you will get the hang of it real fast :)

We have a new playgroup mamma from Alaska though and she is funny, she always emails me to check what the kids should wear for swimming and what kind of sunscreen to use and what exactly to do to prepare them for a baby pool playdate, she's so used to indoor activities!

We have a splash pad behind the fire station in our neighborhood and I love driving by. There are always a dozen or so little kids running around with the off duty firemen hanging out. It's nice.

I loved your Father's Day photoshoot pictures! Seriously, your family is so beautiful.

Thank you!

This place was really amazing, I've never seen anything like it with palm trees that rain and a pirate ship mast that periodically dumps buckets of water on the kids, a spray tunnel, it is awesome! I wish we lived there!

No, not much :) I loved the whole Fox drama! I think Daisy is amazingly hideous looking, it astonishes me that they were able to scrape up that many guys to worship her. Plus my God, she is painfully needy. Can you imagine trying to live with that?

We have a splash pad area in a park near my house - my nephew loves it, and will spend all day running around in the water if we let him.

I don't have cable, and I don't watch a lot of TV to begin with, but I'm hearing a ton of people talk about Daisy of Love, and how much of an awesome trainwreck it is, so I'm thinking about looking it up to see what all the fuss is about...lol.
