Who was it that recommended I read Quentins? Was it
stopityoumonkey ?
cleverkitten? Can't find it. Anyhow, thank you, I finished it sunday at Books a Million and really loved it. It gave me some closure on Tara Road too!
Okay, so tell me if you agree on this one.
Saturday there was theme day on Lifetime Movie Network (which is ALWAYS on in my nail salon, I don't watch this at home).
The theme was "Robbin' the Cradle" and had a jaunty little martini glass logo. Okay, fine, I get that some of LMN's target audience would like to fantasize about running off and having a fling with some hot guy in his 20s, I get it. That goes along with the tongue in cheek theme name and the martini glass logo, right?
But then in the midst of your "Ohhh saucy!" Robbin' the Cradle! Yeah!" schedule you put.....the Mary Kay LeTourneau story? Are you KIDDING ME?! She molests a 12 year old, ruins his life, makes him a father twice over before he's old enough to vote, gives birth to a baby in prison, ruins her own marriage and the lives of her other 4 kids...and you put her story next to "vacation romance with young hardbody hotel employee" type films like Flirting with Forty and How Stella Got Her Groove Back then blanket them all in your cutsey little Robbin' the Cradle theme?
I don't go around writing hotly worded letters to television stations normally, but I was pretty grossly offended by that.
What do you think?
FiL has been here since sunday, so I don't have a whole lot of time to recount our weekend, not that it was terribly exciting anyhow. Sean has got school in full swing now, so he's busy busy. Cash & I just played around here saturday morning then went to WalMart and to feed the goats. Cash pointed out all the smaller goats and said "BAY-BEE!"
He did the same at WalMart to a tiny goldfish int he tank with bigger ones. "BAY-BEE! *pah*pah*pah* BAY-BEE!" The *pah*pah* being his fish noise.
I had taken FiL's truck out, because the Jeep wouldn't start. Perfect, right? Anyhow, while feeding the goats, Cash turned around and started patting the grill of the truck. Then he gave it a kiss. I said "Are you kissing the truck?" and he shook his head no, then made a goat noise "ah-ah-ah-ah-ah" and pointed to the emblem on the grill. FiL's truck is a Dodge Ram. He was kissing the goat!
I got him an apple juice slush at Sonic and he fell asleep with the straw still in his mouth.
I went to get my nails done while Sean kept an ear on him sleeping and did homework. They are a wonderful bright iridescent Barbie pink, it's happifying.
We had Wingo's for dinner, NOM NOM NOM. Those are some seriously great wings.
Sunday it was my week to work Cash's sunday school room. The kids haven't seen me for 3 weeks because of our Father's day celebration and the following weekend's trip. Within 2 minutes of walking in, I was down on the floor with three little girls hanging off my neck hollering "CASSMOMMY! CASSMOMMY! MAGIC RING!!!! CASSMOMMY WHERE WERE YOU? WHERE WAS CASS? MAGIC RING! DO IT!!!!"
They love me. The preschool co-ordinator says I am like a rockstar to the core group in that room, and I have to agree. They mob me when I show up, even if I am just intending to drop Cash off, I end up staying for awhile to play with them all. I guess some parents have said nice things about me to her as well.
I have such a good time when it's my week to be in there, I'm always in a great mood the rest of the day. Even hard days when we have fights and criers, I still love being with the kids and doing what I can to fix things. I turn out to have a knack for mediating disputes between two year olds.
We had a great time, Jackson was a little upset here and there but not near as bad as he was last time I worked. He was happy as long as I was holding him for a good half hour, thankfully he is not as heavy as Cash. Ben wasn't feeling himself, usually he's really social and friendly and he just waned to be left alone. He actually pushed Emilee when she tried to hug him, and then he was upset that I reprimanded him. He laid on the floor with his head down for a good 15 minutes and wouldn't talk to me. So I just petted his hair.
I got his interest a while later when I was cleaning up and asked him to arrange the chairs for me, he liked that job. But after some of the moms started to come, he walked up to me with tears in his eyes and said "Me next?". So I held him until his mommy came and told her I thought maybe he was tired or didn't feel good. She said he had stayed up too late the night before, so that's probably all it was.
Jason, Cash & Ben on a previous sunday
Pirate Cash
Emilee saying cheeeese
And giving Cash a hug!
He decides to pass it on to Jackson, who was sad
Then moved on to Ben
Ben got into the spirit of things
And decided to knock Cash down!
Mr B thought this was HIGH-larious!
They did this repeatedly throughout the morning.
The girls kept rocking the arch until it tipped over, Cash was not actually pushing them, even though it looks like he did!
He was just waiting his turn
One more hug before closing time
From church we went to Vitamin Shoppe (for vitamins, duh) and then to Books a Million for trains. And Petsmart for doggies having haircuts, cats, fish, crabs, frogs. and birdies.
When we got home, Mr B was asleep and FiL was working on the car with Sean. We had pizza for dinner because we were all tired and lazy.
Yesterday was awesome, we met some of our playgroup friends at Hoffbrau for lunch and ate on the patio so the boys could run and play while we ate. Everyone had so much fun, I love eating there. There's a little train that goes around the outdoor mall and every time it passed the patio, the boys would get sooo excited. After lunch, we walked over to the "station" but it was just leaving. So we took the kids on the carousel to occupy them until it returned. That worked! Cash has never been on a real one before where the horses go up & down, he was very impressed. specially because his pal Tyler was riding next to him and anything Tyler does, Cash thinks must be the cool thing to do. So he was psyched to "drive horses" (how he described it to me later when I asked what he'd done that day) with his friend.
Then the train, which was a huge hit. Tyler's mommy stayed behind with the baby while Tyler, Cash & I all got in one car together. They waved at the passers by and screamed like Mary Murphy when the whistle went off. It was a great great time.
I had been supposed to pick Sean up from work (FiL had taken him in) but when I called to say I was on my way, he said he was already on his way home with FiL who had got bored and come over.
They worked on the car some more while Cash napped and I did laundry and relaxed. We had Mexican for dinner and watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall which FiL had not seen and thought was very funny.
Today Cash & I had a pool party to go to. I woke up and there was a big ol' thunderstorm, so I wasn't sure there'd be much pool in our party, but it turned out to just be overcast. Still warm enough to swim, which we did. It was fun, we got to see friends, meet some new people and Cash had a great time, he is such a little fish.
Brought him home all wore out, he slept for 3.5 hours. These 3+ hour naps are nice, but it's making bedtime an hour later, which is not so nice since he already stays up pretty late for a kid. I could deal with the 9:45-10 bedtime, but the 10:45-11 is kinda rough, because then I end up staying up past 0030 all the time, and 7:30 comes mighty early then.
All the work they did & Sean's car is busted beyond DIY repair, so FiL is kindly paying the repair bill as an anniversary gift. Hopefully we can get it done before tuesday, which would mean I just have to pick Sean up from work tomorrow and he'll be off the rest of the days. Because believe me, I do not want to be waking Cash up at 5 am and throwing him in the car for an hour round trip drive. Then doing it again in the middle of naptime. Nuh-uh.
Made crunchy onion chicken and corn for dinner, blondies a la mode for dessert. Good stuff. Mr B is still a little scared of big loud grandpa, but he likes his motorcycle, his truck, and his big pink shoo-shooce.
As for me, I sure do love that little boy. He has been a big ol' kissy-face with me all day and I just eat it up. Baby kisses are the best things ever!
Better even than sweet sleeping babies
I swear, I look at him when he falls asleep every night & just can't believe I've ever lost my patience or my temper with him. I know it happens to the best of us, but when your kids are asleep, they just look so perfect and awesomely wonderful, it's starting to think that you'd ever speak a sharp word toward them.
